On behalf of the teachers and staff of ZCES, I want to extend a warm welcome to you and your family!

Our school is one where students and teachers learn together in an atmosphere of enthusiasm, exploration, inquiry, kindness, and a commitment to making each day a positive experience for everyone.

ZCES is a small, community school which serves approximately 180 students. We pride ourselves in our ability to meet each student’s needs through differentiated support, high quality instruction, and resources and materials that are approved by the Nevada Department of Education’s Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).

Our teachers are all Highly Qualified and deliver the Nevada Academic Content Standards (Common Core) in English Language Arts and Mathematics and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for science. Our specialists provide services in reading, English Language Learners, Special Education & 504, and Gifted and Talented, for students who qualify.

We are a Positive Behavioral Intervention Support (PBIS) school and are beginning our 4th year as such. This means that we teach students what our three simple rules are and what expected behaviors look like using positive language and rewards to encourage all students to be respectful, positive, and safe.

Our Parent’s Club is an active group of parents who serve as an on campus organization which raises money to support our students’ learning. ANY PARENT can be part of our Parent’s Club! We encourage and applaud parents who are willing and able to share their time and talents with us. For more information on our Parent’s Club, visit their page on this website.

Finally, I would like to extend my appreciation for your interest in our school. You are your child’s first teacher. You know more about your child than anyone else. Please let us know your expectations, concerns, comments, suggestions, and anything else you feel is important in order for us to meet the needs of your child and to help him or her succeed. When parent and school work together for the benefit of the child, everyone succeeds!

For more information on our school, please contact me at 775-588-4574. We look forward to hearing from you.

    Unity

I dreamed I stood in a studio and watched two sculptors there.

The clay they used was a young child’s mind and they fashioned it with care.

One was a teacher---the tools she used were books, music, and art.

The other, a parent, worked with a guiding hand and a gentle, loving heart.

Day after day the teacher toiled with touch that was deft and sure, while the parent labored by her side and polished and smoother it over.

And when at last their task was done, they were proud of what they had wrought, for the things they molded into the child, could neither be sold nor bought.

And each agreed they would have failed if each had worked alone, for behind the parent stood the school and behind the teacher, the home.
